Project Description:
The objective of the project was to supervise the construction of the Tunnel of Guadarrama Project lot 4 (Soto del Real – Segovia), a crucial link between Madrid and Segovia, foreseen as part of the Spanish high speed rail network.
The project of Guadarrama Tunnel involved the upgrade and construction of double track railway tunnel (respectively of 9,5 m and 10,1 m in diameter), 26,500 m long. The configuration of the tunnel also foreseen various complementary infrastructures, such as cross-passages 250 m, emergency chambers and relative emergency exits to the surface, passenger shelters and ventilation units.
Activities carried out throughout the project included:
- Day-to-day construction supervision (in accordance with FIDIC similar Conditions of Contract);
- Topographical, geotechnical, geological, and hydro-geological studies and control;
- Technical studies on: pavements, structures, drainage, signalling and road alignment;
- Environmental impact assessment;
- Backstopping and Supervision.
