This is the second project in the field of renewable energy implemented by EPTISA in Serbia. Last year the company successfully finalised a project aiming to produce feasibility studies for small hydropower plants.

geothermal_power_plant-resizeThe Regional Office for Southeast Europe of EPTISA, as a leader of a consortium formed by Mannvit and Energy Saving Group, has recently been awarded a new contract in the Republic of Serbia. The European Union has allocated 1.5 million Euro for a project entitled “Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency” that aims to contribute to sustainable development in Serbia by enhancing capacities in the energy sector to use renewable energy sources and efficient usage of resources according to EU standards.

During the following 18 months, a group of experts from EPTISA will provide support to build the capacity in the energy sector which will lead to the implementation of the rational use of energy and increased use of renewable energy sources and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) production.

In particular, the emphasis will be on the assessment of low-geothermal resources and CHP potentials in Serbia. In this regard, the expert team will provide a wide range of activities, such as proposition of best options for use of geothermal resources in Serbia, preparation of additional feed-in tariffs and prefeasibility studies, analysis of the technical possibility for the development of district heating system based on geothermal energy, assessment of CHP potentials, preparation of pre-feasibility studies for CHP production as well as increase of CHP share in Serbian energy sector.

As EU member states continue to strive for their mandated 20% Renewable Energy by 2020, the importance of Serbia, and its neighbours cannot be overlooked. EPTISA as the first mover in Serbia and one of the more active players in the region proves to be well positioned to take full advantage of the opportunities arising in the energy sector.
