Eptisa is proud to announce that we have been awarded the contract for the “Improved Implementation of the EU Floods Directive through Harmonization of National Legislation and Preparation of Flood Risk Management Plans” in the Republic of North Macedonia.
This project, funded by the European Union, underscores Eptisa’s leadership in supporting environmental resilience and sustainable development in Southeast Europe. The project will bring together various stakeholders, ensuring public awareness and participation in flood risk management efforts.
The initiative is a vital step toward enhancing North Macedonia’s flood risk management capabilities and ensuring compliance with EU regulations. The project’s core objectives include:
- Completing the legal framework for flood risk management to align with EU directives;
- Strengthening administrative capacities within local and national authorities;
- Preparation of Preliminary Flood Risk Assessments for all river sub-basins;
- Developing Flood Hazard and Flood Risk Maps for effective planning;
- Mapping of torrents and landslides to mitigate related risks;
- Creating comprehensive Flood Risk Management Plans to support long-term resilience;
- Designing an Implementation Plan for a Flood Early Warning System.
