Project Description:

The main objective of the project is to provide support to the Technical Secretary of the Great Metropolitan Area (GAM) Plan in charge within the National Plan framework of the Urban and Spatial Development Planning of the Great Metropolitan Area of San Jose, including the metropolitan areas of San Jose, Heredia, Carthage and Alajuela.

The project included different activities:

  • Elaboration of the formation schemes aimed at young people and unemployment.  Support to young people for their access to the labour market;
  • Economic development planning in order to form a commercial network. Financial and Technical support;
  • Development of a new healthy plan, increasing the services of the health centers;
  • Public Awareness Raising;
  • Strengthening of Project Management Structures;
  • Approximation of Environmental Legislation;
  • Overall management and backstopping;
  • Water Resources Management and Water Information Systems;
  • Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building to Environmental Management Authorities;
  • Training Needs Assessment, design, and implementation of training of Public Officials (including study tours for know-how transmission.
