Project Description:

The overall objective is to support the Dominican Republic government in the improvement of the education sector, and specifically; to establish, propose and support the fulfilment of an Action Plan in the Education Sector and Public Finance which allows it to reach the necessary conditions required by the European Union for a sector budget as a first phase to implement a Sector Wide Approach Program.

The project objectives were:

  • To strengthen the organisational, management and financial capacities of the different entities forming the education system;
  • Fortify the planning framework of the Sector Policy;
  • Initiate the process of education quality improvement regarding contents and organisation;
  • Establish and operate an automatised information, monitoring, and evaluation system;
  • To improve the coordination and harmonisation of sector donors organised in the education sector roundtable.
