Project Description:
The projects’ general objective was to contribute to improving the life quality of the population settled in Vargas State, in Venezuela. The specific objective of the project was diminishing the vulnerability of people and goods towards the threats coming from hydro-geological processes as well as assuring the environmental improvement through the increase and development of a drainage infrastructure and the collection of trash in the intervention area.
Project consisted of three main operative axes:
- Structural prevention that includes dams construction, canalizations, bridges and breakwaters;
- Non-structural prevention including the installation and starting of an hydro-climatic measuring system together with an early alert system;
- Social reconstruction focused on environmental drainage through the installation of a collection system for domestic residual waters and waters from the rain through the construction of collectors and recollection of solid wastes.
